Eckard Award Criteria
  • Statistics site prominent.  (Easy to find.)
  • Data timely.  (Most recent data available posted.)
  • Links to national library data provided.  (For example, Bob’s NCLIS gateway link included.
  • http://www.nclis.gov/statsurv/NCES/index.html)
  • Format options available.  (E.g., PDF, Excel, Word.)
  • Data analysis provided. (E.g., charts, maps, presentations, narrative with data.)

  • Site stable.  (Web site address for statistics remains the same over time.  Searchers are redirected after moves.)
  • ADA/508 compliant.
  • Appearance aesthetically pleasing.
  • Easy to use.

Other Criteria.
  • Site stable.  (Web site address for statistics remains the same over time and doesn’t change with annual data updates.)
  • ADA compliant (http://www.cynthiasays.com/ is a web content accessibility validation solution, it is designed to identify errors in design related to Section 508 standards and the WCAG guidelines.
  • Validated (http://validator.w3.org/ provides a free service that checks documents like HTML and XHTML for conformance to W3C Recommendations and other standards.)
  • Appearance aesthetically pleasing.
