Number of Electronic Materials per capita, 1995-2002

Abstract

In raw count the bigger the library, the more electronic materials. However, the smaller libraries have more materials per capita. However, by this measure, four of the five groups analyzed showed a drop from 2001-2002. Such a drop is not reflected in the expenditures for electronic access but is reflected in downward trends seen in expenditures for these materials. What we do not have a handle on is the piece of this puzzle that is controlled by consortia. It is conceivable that the drop from 2001-2002 in the Second Quartile figure is an anomaly like those discussed at the page dealing with Staff Expenditures per capita but it will take further investigation to know.
