Edward Bertorelli graduated from Assumption College and did graduate study at the University of Minnesota and Framingham State College.
Mr. Bertorelli's current position is Director of Benefits & Employee Programs for the Massachusetts Highway Department. Before that he was the Deputy Chief Secretary for Personnel & Legislative Areas in the Governor's Office. From 1998-2002, he was the Community Outreach Director of the Massachusetts Association of Health Boards.
He has had extensive civic involvement, including as current member of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) (Vice-Chairman 1998-1999 and Chairman in 2000-2002). During his tenure on the MBLC, Mr. Bertorelli sponsored programs to lessen the "Digital Divide" in urban and rural communities. He also supported efforts to increase funds for the federal Library Services and Technology Act, in order to train more children's librarians and expand reading programs.
He also has been a member of the State Energy Facilities Siting Study Commission (1999-2003), Trustee of Milford Town Library (1988-1995), Vice-Chairman of Stacy and Memorial School Building Committees (1994-2000), member of the National Italian American Foundation, and member of the American Library Association and Public Library Association.
Mr. Bertorelli has been active in politics, including Convention Manager of the Republican State Convention, Interim Chairman of the Massachusetts Republican Party, State Committeeman for Worcester/Norfolk Senate District, Member of Executive Committee of Republican State Committee, Bush Delegate to 2000 Republican National Convention, and Republican Electoral College Elector for Massachusetts. |
